Summary: This request to purchase very-high-efficiency building ventilation equipment on a sole source basis is related to the proposed conversion of the Forest Preserves’ General Headquarters building in River Forest from gas to electric systems by the fall of 2023. Like the related request to buy very-high-efficiency heating and cooling equipment (Board Item No. 23-0212), the purchase of this equipment is needed in advance of awarding a construction contract for conversion of the building due to long manufacturing lead times for specialized very-high-efficiency equipment. Unlike the related request, the required ventilation equipment is not available through any purchasing consortium but is only available through Windy City Representatives as the authorized Chicagoland representative for Ventacity Systems. The Forest Preserves engineering design consultant has specified aggressive performance requirements and believes, based on its knowledge and experience, that the Ventacity Systems equipment is the only equipment capable of meeting these requirements.
