Piggyback contract to a Public Sector Purchasing Consortium with no MWBE participation goals.

Summary: The request to purchase very high efficiency (variable-refrigerant-flow) heating and cooling equipment is related to the proposed conversion of the Forest Preserves' General Headquarters (GHQ) building in River Forest from gas to electric systems by the fall of 2023. GHQ is one of the Forest Preserves' highest energy use buildings and its gas-fired boilers have reached the end of their useful life. A competitive construction bid opportunity for replacement of the old boilers with very-high-efficiency electric heating and cooling equipment will be posted in March with anticipated award in April. However, due to long manufacturing lead times for specialized very-high-efficiency equipment, the Forest Preserves is seeking to purchase this equipment sooner through a joint purchasing consortium (OMNIA Partners, Public Sector) contract (Racine #3341) with Trane U.S. Inc. for the equipment. The Trane U.S. Inc. contract was awarded through a competitive process.
