Summary: Water pump and plumbing restrictions caused significant reductions to Chicago River Canoe and Kayak operations at Maple Lake Boat House for the 2023 season. In addition, the public restrooms were inoperable from these facility related issues. Chicago River Canoe and Kayak was?impacted by a significant?reduction of revenue because the business missed operating at the site on major holidays (Memorial Day, Father's Day and Juneteenth) and was only open for twenty-six (26) days primarily due to the?plumbing issues. The vendor's seasonal operation at Maple Lake Boat House ended on July 20, 2023, when historically it would end the season sometime in October if weather permitted.
