Summary: The Forest Preserves is requesting to extend its Right of Entry agreement with MWRD to grant the MWRD and its contractors limited access to Forest Preserves property for the purpose of removing blockages and debris from small watercourses for an additional ten (10) years. The MWRD is the stormwater regulatory agency for Cook County, as designated by the State of Illinois. The work conducted through the Small Stream Maintenance Program improves water flow and helps mitigate stormwater and flooding-related issues throughout the Forest Preserves and its neighboring communities.
A Right of Entry was previously granted to the MWRD in September 2006, which was subsequently renewed in January 2012 and again most recently by the Forest Preserves of Cook County Board of Commissioners on December 13, 2016, per Board Item No. 16-0461. This agreement calls for no direct cost to the Forest Preserves.
