Goods or Services: After final review and approval as to the form of such proposed intergovernmental agreement by the Forest Preserve's Legal Department, the City of Blue Island and the Forest Preserves plan to enter into such an agreement to share the cost of construction and Phase III engineering for approximately one mile of the Cal Sag Trail including a pedestrian bridge over the Little Calumet River connecting Blue Island and the Forest Preserves.

Summary: The City of Blue Island and the Forest Preserves wish to enter into an intergovernmental agreement to share the cost of construction and Phase III engineering for approximately one mile of the Cal Sag Trail including a pedestrian bridge over the Little Calumet River connecting Blue Island and the Forest Preserves. The City of Blue Island is the lead agency for this project. The federal government is responsible for eighty percent (80%) of construction and Phase III engineering costs. The City of Blue Island and the Forest Preserves will share the remaining twenty percent (20%) of the construction and Phase III engineering costs. The total project cost is estimated at $2,800,071.00.
The Forest Preserves' segment, which includes one mile of paved trail and half of the bridge from Little Calumet River to Halsted and 134th Street, is estimated to cost $1,880,214.00, of which up to 80% or $1,504,171.00 will be funded via federal Transportation Alternative Program (TAP) funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT).
