Summary: The Forest Preserves of Cook County (the "Forest Preserves") is cooperating with several municipalities to improve ten (10) miles of the Des Plaines River Trail from North Avenue to Touhy Avenue. Phase I engineering for the first four (4) segments from Irving Park to Touhy Avenue is complete. The Village of Rosemont agreed to seek grant funding for Phase II (Design Engineering), Construction, and Phase III (Construction Engineering) for the segment of trail from Devon to Bryn Mawr Avenues known as "Segment 2" provided the Forest Preserves agrees to cover the local match. Rosemont received an award letter from the Illinois Department of Transportation ("IDOT") for up to $1,473,400.00 in Illinois Transportation Enhancement "ITEP" grant funds for 80% of the total estimated project cost and 20% State Match Assistance up to a maximum of $368,350.00.
