Summary:  The scope of work includes the removal of approximately 10.4 acres of invasive brush within the Mill Creek watershed at McClaughrey Springs Woods, located in the Village of Palos Park in southwest Cook County. This project will increase light levels to suppressed ground layer vegetation in order to increase native cover and increase connectivity with other nearby restoration sites, thereby enhancing the ecological health of the site and improving habitat for native plants and wildlife.

 

Total project costs to be covered in full by the proposed grant are $40,000.00. The work will be conducted at no direct cost to the Forest Preserves, which may provide in-kind staff support for the planning, implementation, and monitoring of the projects.end
