PROPOSED INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT

Request: Authority for the Forest Preserves of Cook County (the "Forest Preserves") to enter into an Intergovernmental Agreement ("IGA") with the Village of Palatine, Illinois ("Palatine").
Goods or Services: Palatine is requesting an IGA to construct and maintain a paved trail connection to the Deer Grove Trails from the intersection of Dundee Road and Smith Street just south of Deer Grove - East. The trail connection will be 540 linear feet in length. Palatine is seeking a license for 0.124 acres or 5,400 square feet (540 linear feet times the 10-foot requested license width).

Summary: The Forest Preserves operates and maintains the Deer Grove Trails in Northwestern Cook County. Palatine proposes to construct a trail connection to connect users coming from the Dundee Road and Smith Street intersection to the trail. Palatine will be responsible for design, construction and future maintenance costs associated with the project. Three (3) trees are proposed to be removed during construction at a cost to Palatine of $5,305.29. The license fee, license application fee, and the YELAR fee will be waived, per the Forest Preserves' practice for trail connection project requests from municipalities. There is no cost to the Forest Preserves. The IGA constitutes a license for Palatine to construct and maintain the trail for thirty (30) years, followed by successive one (1) year automatic renewal terms until terminated by either party. Final agreement is subject to legal review and approval.
