Summary: The IDNR has awarded Recreational Trail Program funds to the Forest Preserves for design and construction of improvements for roughly three (3) miles of trail and enhanced ADA access at two (2) trailhead parking lots at Tinley Creek Trail in Oak Forest, Illinois.
Total project costs are estimated at $714,000.00 (original estimate of $595,000.00 at time of grant application plus 20% contingency due to current market conditions). The grant will fund $200,000.00. The Forest Preserves will fund the remaining project cost, estimated at no more than $514,000.00, with motor fuel tax funds provided by the Cook County Department of Transportation & Highways through a separate intergovernmental agreement.
