Purpose: To improve approximately three (3) miles of trail and enhance ADA access at two (2) trailhead parking lots at Tinley Creek Trail, located in Oak Forest, Illinois in the southwestern part of Cook County, Illinois.

Fiscal Impact: Original - Local match not to exceed $514,000.00; total estimated project cost: $714,000.00 ($595,000.00 plus 20% contingency). There is no additional cost associated with the extension.

Summary: The Tinley Creek Trail Repair Project is currently 50% completed with culverts and new storm sewers installed and patching completed in preparation for asphalt surfacing scheduled to take place in spring 2024. As asphalt paving is a weather-dependent activity, the Forest Preserves requested and received an extension from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources. The new end date is May 2, 2025.
