Summary:  Project #18-31-101Y consists of comprehensive habitat enhancement services including, but not limited to invasive species management, prescribed burning, and ecological and hydrological repair throughout the Forest Preserves. Work will involve restoration at quality ecological sites which require a high degree of specialization. Davey Resource Group, Inc. is being engaged as a sixth vendor in order to increase work capacity and supplement the existing vendor pool as it relates to expanding prescribed fire, brush clearing, and vegetation management during the growing season due to new grant and mitigation project opportunities.

Four (4) vendors were initially approved by the Forest Preserves of Cook County Board of Commissioners on 7/26/2018 (Board Item Nos. 18-0298, 18-0299, 18-0301, and 18-0302), with an additional vendor being added on 7/23/2019 (Board Item No. 19-0311) to perform services under RFP #18-31-101 for an aggregate amount not to exceed $25,000,000.00. To accommodate a new vendor under this $25,000,000.00 authority limit, the funds approved for use by the initial four (4) vendors will now be capped internally at $19,125,000.00, with $3,375,000.00 reserved for the fifth vendor added in 2019. The remaining $2,500,000.00 in authority will be divided between Davey Resource Group and another vendor which is simultaneously being proposed per Board Item No. 22-0246. The difference in these numbers is reflective of the authority requested herein.

The Forest Preserves issued a Request for Proposals and received a total of eight (8) responses for this project. Proposals were evaluated on their experience and expertise with similar projects, proposed approach, cost proposal, and capacity to perform all aspects of the work.

This contract is critical to advancing the goals of the Next Century Conservation Plan to restore 30,000 acres to ecological health.
