Summary: The Conservation and Experiential Programming Department and the Volunteer Resources Center provides transportation for school groups and community groups to come to the Forest Preserves for education, recreation and volunteer programs. In addition, programming needs often require shuttle bus transportation between program sites and parking areas. In 2018, after a competitive RFP process, the Forest Preserves Board of Commissioners approved awarding the contract to four (4) bus companies (Agenda No. 18-0112). However, the Forest Preserves entered contracts with only three (3) of the bus companies because the fourth company could not meet RFP requirements. The Forest Preserves now seeks to exercise the first of two (2) extension options and to increase the contract for each of the three (3) bus companies.
