Request: Requesting authorization for the Forest Preserves of Cook County (the “Forest Preserves”) to enter into a Partnership Agreement with Friends of the Chicago River, Chicago, Illinois.
Reason: Friends of the Chicago River has received a $27,000.00 grant through the Illinois Clean Energy Community Foundation’s Community Stewardship Challenge Grant program supporting 16 acres of habitat restoration at Harms Woods in Glenview. The project consists of 5 acres of invasive species removal and the coordination of at least twenty (20) volunteer workdays, which will engage local communities in stewardship to restore an additional 11 acres through the removal of invasive plants and the collection and dispersion of native plant seeds. In addition to the $27,000.00 grant award, Friends of the Chicago River has committed to contributing an additional $7,000.00 towards the project as matching support, bringing the total project amount to $34,000.00.
