Summary: The Department of Facilities and Fleet received permission from the Vehicle Steering Committee on 8/29/2023 to decommission twenty-five (25) Forest Preserves vehicles due to age, high mileage, and condition; and purchase twenty-five (25) new pick-up trucks. Two (2) of these units are for the Law Enforcement Department. Two (2) of these units are for the Conservation and Experiential Programming Department. Seven (7) units are for the Landscape Maintenance Department. Eight (8) units are for the Resource Management Department. Six (6) units are for the Facilities and Fleet Department.

Twenty-four (24) of these units will align with Forest Preserves of Cook County sustainability goals. The only proposed vehicle purchase that does not meet the needs of our vehicle sustainability goals is the purchase of one (1) F550 diesel dump truck that would be used to carry very heavy construction equipment for Facilities and Fleet.
