Summary: SMG Security Holdings LLC monitors, inspects, and maintains security and fire alarm systems at various properties owned or leased by the Forest Preserves. Services include support for over one hundred (100) existing security and fire alarm systems dispersed throughout forty-two (42) preserve locations. Due to the addition of new sites, we are requesting additional funding to meet the safety needs of our staff and the public.
The original contract with SMG Security Holdings LLC for fire and security alarm monitoring, inspection and maintenance services was board approved on 6/25/2019 (Board Item No. 19-0279). Previously, the General Superintendent exercised the first of two (2) optional one-year extensions for this contract. We are anticipating posting a public bid solicitation in quarter 4 of 2023 for security and alarm monitoring and maintenance.
