PROPOSED AGREEMENT
Vendor: Chicago River Canoe & Kayak, Evanston, Illinois
Request: Requesting authorization for the Forest Preserves of Cook County (the “Forest Preserves”) to enter into an agreement
Reason: To provide canoe and kayak rentals at Skokie Lagoons. The Forest Preserves requested proposals through its online bidding process. The selected vendor, Chicago River Canoe & Kayak, was deemed the most responsive and responsible of two (2) respondents to operate the Skokie Lagoons boating facility, which will offer canoe and kayak rentals along with lessons to the public. Chicago River Canoe & Kayak has operated the Skokie Lagoons boating facility since 2009 and presented the strongest financial package and management plan for the coming term.
Chicago River Canoe & Kayak has agreed to pay the Forest Preserves an annual fee per year of $21,000 in addition to 5% of gross sales.
Contract Period: Thirty-six (36) months. The initial Term of this Agreement shall be for a three (3) year initial contract with two (2) optional two-year extensions to be exercised at the discretion of the General Superintendent
Estimated Fiscal Impact: $63,000.00 + 5% of gross sales (revenue generating)
