Summary: The Fleet and Facilities Department received permission from the Vehicle Steering Committee on 1/19/2023 to decommission two (2) Forest Preserves garbage trucks due to age and condition; and purchase two (2) new garbage trucks to be assigned to the Landscape Maintenance Department. The purchase of two (2) Ford F650 Super Duty Crew Max Garbage Trucks will be via a piggyback contract based on City of Chicago’s competitively bid contract #32877. These garbage trucks will utilize propane and gas to reduce greenhouse gas pollution. The purchase of these garbage trucks will support the Forest Preserves’ Green Fleet plan.
