PROPOSED BID RECOMMENDATION

 

Department:  Department of Planning and Development

 

Request: Authorization for the Forest Preserves of Cook County (the “Forest Preserves”) to enter into a construction contract with Pan-Oceanic Engineering Co., Inc. primary place of business Chicago, Illinois, for Districtwide Transportation Improvements at various locations, primarily in South Cook County.

 

Specific locations are in Chicago (new 87th Street connection to Major Taylor Bike Trail), in Lansing (Lansing Woods parking), in Oak Forest (Carlson Spring Woods parking, Oak Forest culvert removal, new Pulaski Road trail connection at Oak Forest trail and new Camp Sullivan trail connection to Tinley Creek trail), in Orland (Orland Grassland North parking), in Lyons (Chicago Portage trail), in Chicago Heights (Woodrow Wilson Woods parking removal and restoration), in South Chicago Heights (Sauk Woods Central parking), in Palos Heights (Tinley Creek Trail and Tinley Creek Woods parking) and in Thornton (Wampum Lake parking).

 

Reason: Contract #74000010824 issued under Project #19-80-67G-22C4 Districtwide Transportation Improvements for the South Area Improvements. The work includes, but is not limited to pavement resurfacing, drainage and ADA access improvements, paved trail development, and pavement removal and restoration and other related work as specified in the plans & specifications. The majority of work is funded by Motor Fuel Tax (MFT) funds from Cook County Department of Transportation & Highways. A portion of the Tinley Creek Trail rehabilitation work is funded by a Recreation Trail Program grant from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.
