Title: PROPOSED PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENT Request: Requesting authorization for the Forest Preserves of Cook County (the "Forest Preserves") to enter into a Partnership Agreement with 2110 44th Road, LLC d/b/a Bee All About It, Villa Park, Illinois. Reason: Bee All About It, located in Cook County, is a local company engaged in many aspects of beekeeping. Since early 2021, Bee All About It has maintained approximately eight (8) beehives at the River Trail Nature Center on a volunteer basis. The hives are primarily occupied by honeybees which cohabitate well in the environment with native bees and other pollinators. The Forest Preserves now seeks to formalize its relationship with Bee All About It. PROPOSED PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENT

 

Request:  Requesting authorization for the Forest Preserves of Cook County (the “Forest Preserves”) to enter into a Partnership Agreement with 2110 44th Road, LLC d/b/a Bee All About It, Villa Park, Illinois.

 

Reason:  Bee All About It, located in Cook County, is a local company engaged in many aspects of beekeeping. Since early 2021, Bee All About It has maintained approximately eight (8) beehives at the River Trail Nature Center on a volunteer basis. The hives are primarily occupied by honeybees which cohabitate well in the environment with native bees and other pollinators. The Forest Preserves now seeks to formalize its relationship with Bee All About It.  Under the proposed partnership agreement, Bee All About It will continue to manage the hives and will be reimbursed by the Forest Preserves up to $1,000.00 annually for supplies purchased in connection with the hives and beekeeping, not including the bees. Additionally, Bee All About It will collect, bottle and sell the honey from the hives, paying ten (10) percent of the sales revenue to the Forest Preserves. Bee All About It will also provide classes and workshops related to bees, pollinators and beekeeping to Forest Preserves visitors at the River Trail Nature Center.

 

 

Contract Period:  10/5/2021 - 10/31/2024 with two (2) one-year extension options to be exercised at the discretion of the General Superintendent.

 

Fiscal Impact: Up to $1,000.00 per year, not to exceed $5,000.00 over five (5) year term. This amount is anticipated to be offset by revenue generation under the agreement.
