Summary:  Cook County is a recipient of the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (“JAG”) Program funding from the United States Department of Justice through the Chicago Police Department. Pursuant to a Memorandum of Understanding with the City of Chicago (“Chicago/Cook MOU”) the County has been allocated a portion of the 2018 JAG Grant. The County wishes to subaward a portion of the 2018 JAG Grant to the Forest Preserves for the purchase of two (2) specially equipped K-9 squad vehicles to be used to transport search and rescue canines. The Forest Preserves Board of Commissioners previously approved the following: (1) the Forest Preserves’ receipt of a sub-award grant from Cook County for the prior purchase of a K-9 vehicle (Agenda No. 18-0409) and, (2) the Forest Preserves’ receipt of a sub-award grant from Cook County for the prior purchase of a canine (Agenda No. 19-0362). The final agreement is subject to legal review and approval.
