Title: PROPOSED PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENT Request: Requesting authorization for the Forest Preserves of Cook County (the "Forest Preserves") to enter into a Partnership Agreement with Audubon Great Lakes, Chicago, Illinois. Reason: On 2/25/2020, the Forest Preserves of Cook County Board of Commissioners authorized the Forest Preserves to accept a $50,000.00 federal grant from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources' Coastal Management Program to restore and enhance 118 acres of coastal wetlands at Burnham Prairie Nature Preserve and Eggers Marsh in the Calumet region (Board Item No. 20-0134). Request:  Requesting authorization for the Forest Preserves of Cook County (the “Forest Preserves”) to enter into a Partnership Agreement with Audubon Great Lakes, Chicago, Illinois.

 

Reason:  On 2/25/2020, the Forest Preserves of Cook County Board of Commissioners authorized the Forest Preserves to accept a $50,000.00 federal grant from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources’ Coastal Management Program  to restore and enhance 118 acres of coastal wetlands at Burnham Prairie Nature Preserve and Eggers Marsh in the Calumet region (Board Item No. 20-0134).  The project includes four (4) field trips which will be coordinated and led by Audubon Great Lakes’ Wild Indigo Nature Exploration for the public, schools, and local urban community organizations interested in bridging relationships to nature. The field trips will highlight the unique plants and animals which live in the coastal areas and will seek to inspire local community members to care for local nature and view the preserves as an asset to their neighborhood. The Forest Preserves seeks board authorization to contribute $6,000.00 of the grant funds to Audubon Great Lakes to cover the cost of the field trips.
