Summary: At the 6/16/2020 Board Meeting, the Forest Preserves notified the Forest Preserves of Cook County Board of Commissioners that it would seek amendments to existing concession agreements to mitigate the financial impact of COVID-19. Because of restrictions implemented by the State of Illinois related to COVID-19, the Oak Park Tennis Center was unable to open until May 12, later than its typical opening in early April. Additionally, COVID-19 restrictions delayed planned pre-season painting of the Forest Preserves’ nearby General Headquarters Building until after the Tennis Center reopened. Because of this work, approximately 20% of the courts were unavailable for one (1) week. As a result, the Forest Preserves is proposing a 25% reduction ($1,560.60) of the 2020 annual fee of $6,242.40.
