Request:  Authorization for the Forest Preserves of Cook County (the “Forest Preserves”) to enter into a construction contract with Griggs Mitchell & Alma of Illinois, LLC d/b/a GMA Construction Group, primary place of business Chicago, Illinois, for the construction of a new headquarters office building at Salt Creek Landscape Maintenance Headquarters located near North Riverside.

 

Reason:   Contract #74000008368, issued under Solicitation #20-80-005892 for Project #20-80-50 New Headquarters Building at Salt Creek Landscape Maintenance Campus includes demolition and replacement of an existing 1930s-era garage that over time had been converted to an office space and has now reached the end of its useful life.  The new building will contain a training room, locker rooms, washrooms and offices and has been designed to accommodate a future garage addition. The new structure will be a super-insulated, all-electric building using a geo-thermal heating system. It has also been designed to support rooftop solar panels that can be added to this building and a future garage addition when funding allows.
