Title: PROPOSED RESOLUTION TO AUTHORIZE EXTENSION OF A GRANT AGREEMENT WITH THE ILLINOIS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR A TRAIL SYSTEM INVENTORY AND EVALUATION WHEREAS, on October 16, 2018, the Forest Preserves of Cook County Board of Commissioners approved a Resolution (Agenda Item 18-0397) authorizing the Forest Preserves of Cook County to enter into a grant agreement with the Illinois Department of Transportation ("IDOT") for a $240,000.00 Statewide Planning and Research Program grant for a Trail System Inventory and Evaluation; and WHEREAS, the purpose of the grant is to develop a systematic approach for regular inspection and evaluation of trail conditions, including bridges, underpasses, road crossings and wayfinding signs; and WHEREAS, a grant agreement was subsequently executed with IDOT with an original term from October 1, 2018 to September 30, 2020; and WHEREAS, the Forest Preserves of Cook County Board of Commissioners approved the award of a professional services contrac...

PROPOSED RESOLUTION

 

TO AUTHORIZE EXTENSION OF A GRANT AGREEMENT WITH THE ILLINOIS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR A TRAIL SYSTEM INVENTORY AND EVALUATION

 

WHEREAS, on October 16, 2018, the Forest Preserves of Cook County Board of Commissioners approved a Resolution (Agenda Item 18-0397) authorizing the Forest Preserves of Cook County to enter into a grant agreement with the Illinois Department of Transportation (“IDOT”) for a $240,000.00 Statewide Planning and Research Program grant for a Trail System Inventory and Evaluation; and

 

WHEREAS, the purpose of the grant is to develop a systematic approach for regular inspection and evaluation of trail conditions, including bridges, underpasses, road crossings and wayfinding signs; and

 

WHEREAS, a grant agreement was subsequently executed with IDOT with an original term from October 1, 2018 to September 30, 2020; and

 

WHEREAS, the Forest Preserves of Cook County Board of Commissioners approved the award of a professional services contract to Applied Research Associates, Inc. in June 2019 (Agenda Item 19-0290); and

 

WHEREAS, work delays have resulted from the Coronavirus and the seasonal nature of data collection; and

 

WHEREAS, IDOT has approved extension of the term of the grant agreement for one (1) additional year and Forest Preserves of Cook County staff are requesting approval of an additional year to cover future unforeseen delays.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Toni Preckwinkle, President and the Forest Preserves of Cook County Board of Commissioners does hereby authorize execution of an amendment to the grant agreement with IDOT to extend the end date to September 30, 2022.
