PROPOSED BID RECOMMENDATION

Request:  Authorization for the Forest Preserves of Cook County (the “Forest Preserves”) to enter into a construction contract with Pan-Oceanic Engineering Co., Inc., primary place of business Chicago, Illinois, for asphalt trail and walkway construction at the Sand Ridge Campus. 

 

Reason: Contract #74000008005 issued under Project #20-80-30 Sand Ridge Campus Landscape Improvements. The work includes, but is not limited to, grading, constructing aggregate and hot-mix asphalt paths, fence repair and gate installation, seeding, fishing node construction and other related work as specified in the plans and specifications. Trail and walkway construction will connect the Burnham Greenway Trail to Camp Shabbona and new fishing outcroppings at Green Lake. The project will be partly funded by a grant from the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.  Please note that Schaefges Brothers bid exceeded the engineer’s estimate on 36 of 39 line items.
