Summary: The IDNR Boat Access Area Development grant will fund $80,000.00 of the cost of a new ADA-accessible canoe and kayak launch at Busse Woods Forest Preserve in Elk Grove Village, Illinois. The Forest Preserves would pay a maximum of $89,644.00 to cover the balance of the estimated total cost of $169,644.00 ($141,370.00 plus 20% contingency). The project will also include a new fishing outcropping and address the eroded shoreline. Launching of private canoes and kayaks is currently limited to the south pool at Busse Woods. The proposed improvements are intended to expand the Forest Preserves’ paddling infrastructure and to increase outdoor recreation opportunities for visitors. The grant award requires the execution of a grant agreement by the Forest Preserves.end
