Summary: The Forest Preserves issued a Request for Proposals to perform energy efficiency studies for the Central Garage in Maywood. Five (5) firms submitted proposals. A selection committee (including Cook County’s Energy Manager) reviewed the proposals and found WMA Consulting Engineers, Ltd to be the most responsive.
The Central Garage is critical to the Forest Preserves’ operations. It was originally built in 1919 and has a boiler that is over 65 years old as well as other antiquated systems. Contract #74000003046 (issued under Request for Proposal 17-80-85) include analysis of existing mechanical systems, energy evaluations, project priorities, design services, construction documents and limited construction administrative services for a building energy efficiency project to help achieve the Forest Preserve’s sustainability energy efficiency objectives and to address operational improvements at the existing Central Garage. Optional extension years are for post construction energy efficiency monitoring and validation services to ensure that equipment is performing to energy efficiency benchmarks.
The two (2) one-year extension options may be exercised at the discretion of the General Superintendent or a designee.
