PROPOSED INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT

Request: Authority to enter into an Intergovernmental Agreement (IGA) with Elk Grove Village for the construction and maintenance of two trail connections from Arlington Heights Road to the Busse Woods Bicycle Trail in the Ned Brown Forest Preserve.
Goods or Services: The Forest Preserve District of Cook County (the "Forest Preserves") operates and maintains the Busse Woods Bicycle Trail in Northwestern Cook County. The Village proposes to construct two (2) trail segments to connect residents and businesses east of Arlington Heights Road to the Busse Woods Bicycle Trail on the west side of Arlington Heights Road. The first connection is approximately 60 linear feet of paved trail from Arlington Heights Road at North West Point Boulevard and the second is approximately 650 linear feet from Arlington Heights Road at Oakton Avenue.
Elk Grove Village will be responsible for design, construction and future maintenance costs associated with the project. There will be five (5) trees impacted as a result of the project, and Elk Grove will also be responsible for $6,485.76 in tree mitigation fees. The IGA constitutes a license for Elk Grove Village to construct and maintain the trail. The license fee, license application fee, and the YELAR fee will be waived, as is the typical practice for trail connection project requests from municipalities. There is no cost to the Forest Preserves.
