Summary:  The original IGA executed by the parties in December of 2016 provided for transfer of ownership of a pedestrian bridge over the Little Calumet River to the Forest Preserves after construction. The north and west terminus of the bridge will be constructed on and over property owned by the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago (“MWRD”) and such property is the subject of an existing lease between MWRD and Blue Island. The Forest Preserves requests the authority to amend the IGA to provide for shared ownership of the bridge by Blue Island and the Forest Preserves in recognition of the existing lease of property by Blue Island. The Forest Preserves would retain responsibility for maintenance of the bridge as provided in the original IGA. The final amendment is subject to legal review and approval.
