PROPOSED LICENSE REQUEST
Request: Requesting authorization for the Forest Preserve District of Cook County (the “Preserves”), as Licensor to grant a License to the Chicago Horticultural Society, dba Chicago Botanic Garden (the “Garden”), Grantee, to locate, operate and maintain fence extensions along the banks of the Skokie River on the south side of Dundee Road. The fence will extend from the Dundee Road bridge approximately 110 feet south on the east side and 90 feet south on the west side. The fence will be woven wire fabric 8 feet tall with steel posts every 10 feet. The fence is designed to reduce deer intrusion into the Garden from the Preserve’s Skokie Lagoons across the shallow water, and the resultant damage to the Garden’s world-class plant collections, research plots, and managed natural areas. As a partner with the Preserves, the Garden requests the waiver of all fees associated with the license.
Term: Ten (10) years
License Fee: $4,200.00 - The Garden requests that this fee be waived.
License Application Fee: $500.00 - The Garden requests that this fee be waived.
Level One Review Fee: $3,000.00 - The Garden requests that this fee be waived.
YELAR Fee: $6,300.00 - The Garden requests that this fee be waived.
Total one-time upfront fee of $14,000.00 waived for the term of the License

Grantee has met the insurance requirements under the License Agreement.
The Forest Preserves staff have reviewed this license application and plans and have found them to be acceptable; therefore, it is recommended that the Forest Preserve District Board of Commissioners approve the issuance of this license and waiving $14,000 in fees.
