PROPOSED RESOLUTION
RECOGNIZING AND CONGRATULATING GENERAL SUPERINTENDENT ARNOLD RANDALL FOR RECEIVING THE EXCELLENCE IN PUBLIC SERVICE AWARD FROM THE MOTOROLA SOLUTIONS FOUNDATION AND CIVIC FEDERATION
WHEREAS, in 1990, Motorola recognized the need to identify and promote the exemplary work of public servants throughout the State of Illinois; and
WHEREAS, now in its 26th year and sponsored by the Motorola Solutions Foundation in partnership with The Civic Federation, a non-partisan government research organization working to maximize the quality and cost-effectiveness of government services in the Chicago region and State of Illinois, the Excellence in Public Service Award annually recognizes a non-elected government official who has had an extraordinary impact on the quality of state and local government services in Illinois; and
WHEREAS, the Award seeks to honor individuals who show dedication to a vision of quality management, leadership and innovation that leads to lasting achievements and more effective government in Illinois; and
WHEREAS, General Superintendent Arnold Randall was presented the Excellence in Public Service Award on Thursday, December 7, 2017; and
WHEREAS, Arnold Randall has served as General Superintendent of the Forest Preserves of Cook County since his appointment by President Toni Preckwinkle in December 2010; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Randall has increased the profile of the Forest Preserves, led the development and execution of a strategic roadmap for the future including a multi-year initiative to bring new and diverse audiences to the Forests Preserves of Cook County, expanded camping, trails and hiking; and
WHEREAS, under his leadership the Forest Preserves has also intensified habitat restoration and expanded the organization's role in scientific and academic communities through revitalized partnerships with the Chicago Horticulture Society, Chicago Zoological Society, and others; and
