ACKNOWLEDGING THE LITTLE RED SCHOOLHOUSE NATURE CENTER FOR HAVING BEEN RECOGNIZED BY THE ILLINOIS RECREATION THERAPY ASSOCIATION FOR INNOVATIVE INCLUSION SERVICES AND FACILITIES

 

WHEREAS, the Illinois Recreation Therapy Association presents an annual award to the Outstanding Program or Agency for Innovative Inclusion Services and Facilities; and

 

WHEREAS, past recipients of the award include agencies dedicated to serving individuals with disabilities; and

 

WHEREAS, the honor is awarded to an agency that, “Has significantly served the needs of persons with disabilities”; and

 

WHEREAS, the Little Red Schoolhouse Nature Center of the Forest Preserves of Cook County provides facilities and programming that are accessible to those with disabilities; and

 

WHEREAS, these facilities and programs include accessible buildings, garden and walkway and the special event “Nature Is Accessible”; and

 

WHEREAS, these features make it possible for persons of all abilities to experience the wonders of nature and the Forest Preserves of Cook County; and

 

WHEREAS, the Little Red Schoolhouse Nature Center of the Forest Preserves of Cook County was recognized by the Illinois Recreation Therapy Association for its outstanding efforts in service of individuals with disabilities.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Forest Preserve District of Cook County Board of Commissioners does hereby acknowledge and congratulate the Little Red Schoolhouse Nature Center and its staff for this achievement; and

 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that a suitable copy of this resolution be presented for display at the nature center in recognition of the efforts of its staff on behalf of those with disabilities.
