Summary: On 2/8/2017, the Cook County Board approved contract 1628-15809 with Morton Salt Inc. to furnish and deliver bulk rock salt. The City of Chicago awarded this contract through a competitive bid process, and both Cook County and the Preserves would like to leverage this procurement effort. The rock salt will be utilized to maintain the Preserve’s roadways during winter operations. The Preserve’s Fleet & Facilities Department has utilized Morton Salt for many years and continues to receive satisfactory service.
