Summary:The proposed intergovernmental agreement (“IGA”) provides for the creation and implementation of the Preserves’ “Sustainability Master Plan” with ISTC’s assistance.  The Preserves is striving to become a leader and model in sustainability practices.  In 2014/2015 ISTC, a unit of the Prairie Research Institute at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign worked with Preserve staff to assess the current state of materials management operations and opportunities for improvement.  Previous collaborations with ISTC resulted in the completion of the following: Recycling and Waste Reduction Opportunity Assessment, the Solid Waste Characterization and Zero Waste Implementation Assessment and the Waste Stream Characterization Study and recycling pilots.  The proposed IGA is subject to final review and approval by the Preserves’ Legal Department
