PROPOSED INTERGOVERNMENTAL AGREEMENT

Request: Requesting authority to enter into an Intergovernmental Agreement with the Village of Schaumburg for construction of approximately two hundred (200) linear feet of paved trail from the south right of way of Golf Road to the existing Busse Woods Bicycle Trail.
Goods or Services: The Forest Preserve District (the “Preserves”) operates and maintains the Busse Woods Bicycle Trail in Northwestern Cook County. The project will connect residents and businesses north of Golf Road with the Busse Woods Trail by using an existing signalized crossing at the intersection of Golf and Ring Road.
Schaumburg will be responsible for design, permitting and construction costs associated with the project, subject to the review of final plans and specifications by the Preserves. All requirements regarding insurance and bonds must be met.

Summary: Schaumburg is requesting an Intergovernmental Agreement to construct a new trail connection from the south side of Golf Road to the existing Busse Woods Bicycle Trail on Forest Preserve property. Schaumburg has obtained Transportation Alternatives Program funding for the design and construction of the trail segment. Under this proposed IGA, the Preserves anticipate that the trail connection will be completed within three (3) years. The Preserves will assume responsibility for maintenance upon completion and acceptance of construction.
