Summary: This grant will enable the Forest Preserves to hire professionals to conduct an assessment of stormwater runoff and adjacent land uses that are tributary to the Powderhorn Lake site, define the runoff in terms of quantity and quality, assess how it may be impacting the site, and propose practices to mitigate runoff pollution. Understanding and mitigating stormwater impacts will allow the Preserves to improve and restore the hydrology of the site, thereby halting the degradation of this important native fish and migratory bird habitat. The project will involve collaboration with community partners to present and solicit input about the planning project from the local community.
