PROPOSED PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENT

 

Request:  requesting authorization for the Forest Preserve District of Cook County (the “Preserves”) to enter into a revenue generating Partnership Agreement with Recreational Equipment Inc. (“REI”), Chicago, Illinois

 

Reason:  The Preserves seek to partner with REI for the purposes of providing outdoor recreation and outdoor activities as well as educating the public with nature based activities which includes but is not limited to hiking, biking, camping, archery and volunteer stewardship. For all courses conducted on the Preserves’ property, REI will compensate the Preserves with 20% of all registration fees collected from their participants. Participants of REI’s courses will also receive extensive environmental education supplemented by nature-based recreational activities which promote forest preserve awareness, and teaches participates how healthy forest preserves contribute to their community and quality of life. 

 

These courses promote the use of the Preserves and REI has committed to partnering with the Preserves’ volunteers to provide them with recognition gifts to reward these individuals that have dedicated an enormous amount of volunteer service hours to protect and restore the Preserves. In addition, REI will cross promote each other’s events and activities that occur on the Preserves property.

 

Contract period:  7/12/2016 - 12/31/2017
