Summary:  Calumet City is requesting approval to construct approximately 500 linear feet of paved trail on Preserve property adjacent to Torrence Avenue north of 159th Street.  On 5/12/2016, the Mayor and City Council of the City of Calumet City approved a draft IGA provided by the Preserve for this project. Calumet City will be responsible for design and construction costs associated with the project. Calumet City has obtained a grant from the Illinois Transportation Enhancement Project to fund design and construction of the trail segment. The Preserve anticipates that the trail connection will be completed within 2 years. There is no cost to the Preserve.  The Preserve operates and maintains the Burnham Greenway Trail in southeastern Cook County, and is planning a trail along 159th Street that will link the Burnham Greenway from Green Lake Pool to the Sand Ridge Nature Center.
