Summary: On 2/7/2008, the Board of Commissioners approved the execution of a large-scale restoration project at Tinley Creek Wetlands through the OMMA, which provides mitigation of off-site wetland impacts resulting from the O'Hare Modernization Program. The project involved extensive hydrologic restoration of degraded wetlands and the removal of approximately one hundred and forty five (145) acres of reforestation. It is anticipated that the initial management and monitoring period will be concluded by the end of 2016, with all performance standards being met.

In light of this significant investment, the Forest Preserve District of Cook County, in conjunction with Openlands and the Chicago District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, have the common goal to provide for the ongoing stewardship, restoration, maintenance and management needed to sustain and build upon the successful restoration efforts undertaken during the initial enhancement project.

To that end, this agreement provides for continued management at the Tinley Creek Wetlands OMMA site over the course of the next five (5) years, boosting the long term sustainability and success of the restoration already completed at the site. The value of work t...
