Summary:  Additional time and funds are required to compensate the contractor for changes in the scope to address unforeseen soil conditions, underground spring water issues, existing foundation conditions and existing building structural conditions.  These discoveries require revisions to the structural plans and soil stabilization efforts. Additional time is also required to complete the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification process. The project includes the construction of a new visitor’s center with a rentable meeting room, multipurpose rooms, new ADA toilet facilities, a small staff office area and improved site drainage for the parking area and around the building. This facility also includes the use of geo-thermal heating system and photovoltaic panels.
