Summary: The US Green Building Council requires LEED certification applicants to work with its licensee, Green Business Certification Inc. to review project specifics for compliance with and determination of the level of LEED certification. Swallow Cliff Woods Visitor Center is anticipated to receive Silver Level Certification and Rolling Knolls Visitor Center is anticipated to receive Gold Level Certification. Because this is a multi-year agreement, Board approval is required. This contract is a form contract and as such the terms are extremely favorable to Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI). The contract is subject to mandatory arbitration in the District of Columbia and governed by the laws of the District of Columbia. The Forest Preserve is specifically obligated to indemnify GBCI for GBCI's negligence. Recourse under this contract for the Forest Preserves is limited.
