PROPOSED PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENT
Request: requesting authorization for the Forest Preserve District of Cook County (the “Preserves”) to enter into a Partnership Agreement with Friends of the Forest Preserves (“FOTFP”), Chicago, Illinois.
Reason: FOTFP, in partnership with Friends of the Chicago River, the Chicago Ornithological Society, the Field Museum and the North Branch Restoration Project, has received a grant from the Chi-Cal Rivers Fund in the amount of $270,000.00 to support the recruitment and coordination of the Centennial Network. The result of this initiative will be the engagement of a network of more than 6,000 volunteers dedicated to restoring 267 acres of habitat in the Chicago and the Calumet river basins at Beaubien Woods, River Oaks Woods, Clayton Smith Woods, and Forest Glen Woods, as well as at the following sites which were part of Phase I of the Centennial Volunteers project: Somme Woods East, Blue Star Memorial Woods, LaBagh Woods East, Whistler Woods, and Kickapoo Woods.
This project will significantly expand volunteer opportunities, broaden support for habitat restoration, and increase the number of conservation stewards in the region. The Preserves desires to assist in the completion of this project by providing funds in an amount not to exceed $10,000 in cash, which represents a 10% match in the cost of the project, and additional in-kind services.
