The Forest Preserves of Cook County (the “Preserves”) assembled a review panel comprised of various Forest Preserve staff, which determined Homer Environmental, LLC, Inc.’s proposal to be the most responsible and responsive, with particular strengths in experience, proposed approach, cost, and capacity to perform all aspects of the work. Five (5) proposals were received.
The restoration work performed by this contract achieves progress towards the Preserves goal of restoring 30,000 acres by 2040, as mandated by the Next Century Conservation Plan in 2014. The Palos block, which includes Cranberry Slough, was identified by the Natural and Cultural Resources Master Plan as the number one priority for restoration in the Preserves.
