Title: PROPOSED RESOLUTION HONORING THE MEMORY OF LEO DOMBROWSKI WHEREAS, Almighty God, in his infinite wisdom, called Leo Dombrowski to eternal life on February 21, 2015; and WHEREAS, Leo Dombrowski was born on March 23, 1929 in the Bridgeport neighborhood of Chicago; and WHEREAS, Leo Dombrowski graduated from the United States Coast Guard Academy, honorably served in the United States Coast Guard and has the rare distinction of being an Atomic Veteran; and WHEREAS, Leo Dombrowski had the honor of marching with President Harry S. Truman in his historic 1949 inauguration parade; and WHEREAS, Leo Dombrowski married the former Caroline Vogt in 1957 and together they raised seven children: Leo, Jr., Mary, William, John, Peter, Carol and Steven in the Marquette Park neighborhood of Chicago and later in LaGrange, Illinois; and WHEREAS, Leo Dombrowski worked at the Chicago Boiler Company for over forty years; and WHEREAS, Leo Dombrowski served in the Boy Scouts of America as...

HONORING THE MEMORY OF LEO DOMBROWSKI

WHEREAS, Almighty God, in his infinite wisdom, called Leo Dombrowski to eternal life on February 21, 2015; and

WHEREAS, Leo Dombrowski was born on March 23, 1929 in the Bridgeport neighborhood of Chicago; and

WHEREAS, Leo Dombrowski graduated from the United States Coast Guard Academy, honorably served in the United States Coast Guard and has the rare distinction of being an Atomic Veteran; and

WHEREAS, Leo Dombrowski had the honor of marching with President Harry S. Truman in his historic 1949 inauguration parade; and

WHEREAS, Leo Dombrowski married the former Caroline Vogt in 1957 and together they raised seven children: Leo, Jr., Mary, William, John, Peter, Carol and Steven in the Marquette Park neighborhood of Chicago and later in LaGrange, Illinois; and

WHEREAS, Leo Dombrowski worked at the Chicago Boiler Company for over forty years; and

WHEREAS, Leo Dombrowski served in the Boy Scouts of America as Scoutmaster and a District Leader, earning both the Silver Beaver award and the Fellowship award for his service in the Order of the Arrow; and

WHEREAS, Leo Dombrowski was an award winning docent at the Brookfield Zoo for over forty years; and

WHEREAS, Leo Dombrowski's seven children and two grandchildren also volunteered for many years at the Brookfield Zoo, including his granddaughter, Dana, who is currently a junior docent; and

WHEREAS, Leo Dombrowski's life of service in the Armed Forces, Boy Scouts and at the Forest Preserve District of Cook County serves as a shining example to all

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of the Forest Preserve District of Cook County that the Board does hereby offer its deepest condolences and most heartfelt sympathy to the family and many friends of Leo Dombrowski, and joins them in sorrow at this time of loss; and
