Summary:  The Preserves is currently seeking approval of a $437,275.00 addition to increase the total contract amount to $4,358,118.76. The proposed contract increase is due to a number of items that require additional work necessary to complete the project. Reasons for the increase include unforeseen conditions encountered during construction (i.e. additional topsoil that needed to be removed to structural soils, sewer line repairs for sewer that was determined to have failed, and grading and landscaping of unsuitable soils) and  permit and code related changes required by the local jurisdictions (i.e. changing underground piping to materials that meet current requirements, looping water lines in buildings, replacing existing fire hydrants, and winterizing fire protection to unheated buildings) . The proposed contract extension is due to the changes in project scope as detailed above.
