Title: PROPOSED RESOLUTION HONORING THE POPLAR CREEK PRAIRIE STEWARDS FOR TWENTY FIVE YEARS OF SERVICE. WHEREAS, on August 23, 2014, the Forest Preserve District of Cook County ("the Preserves") celebrated twenty-five (25) years of collaborative restoration with the Poplar Creek Prairie Stewards; and WHEREAS, the Poplar Creek Prairie Stewards have diligently worked on every weekend throughout the year for the last twenty-five years to restore more than 250 acres of habitat including tall grass prairies, woodlands and wetlands at Carl R. Hansen Woods which includes a nine (9) acre dedicated nature preserve; and WHEREAS, these restoration efforts have dramatically improved habitat for native plants and animals; and WHEREAS, the Poplar Creek Prairie Stewards embody the spirit of volunteerism and have awoken an interest in nature in the countless students, youth groups, and families that have joined them in these restoration efforts. HONORING THE POPLAR CREEK PRAIRIE STEWARDS FOR TWENTY FIVE YEARS OF SERVICE.
 
WHEREAS, on August 23, 2014, the Forest Preserve District of Cook County ("the Preserves") celebrated twenty-five (25) years of collaborative restoration with the Poplar Creek Prairie Stewards; and
 
WHEREAS, the Poplar Creek Prairie Stewards have diligently worked on every weekend throughout the year for the last twenty-five years to restore more than 250 acres of habitat including tall grass prairies, woodlands and wetlands at Carl R. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that Toni Preckwinkle, President; and the Board of Commissioners of the Preserves and Arnold L. Randall, General Superintendent thank and congratulate the Poplar Creek Prairie Stewards for their steadfast commitment to protect and preserve the remarkable nature of the Preserves.
 
 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED,  that a suitable copy of this Resolution be presented to the Poplar Creek Prairie Stewards as a token of appreciation for their service to the Preserves and the residents of Cook County.
