Report Title: Grant Award from the USDA Natural Resource Conservation Services (NRCS) through the Great Lakes Regional Initiative (GLFT).

Summary: The Forest Preserve District of Cook County (the "Preserves") has received a grant from the USDA Natural Resource Conservation Services (NRCS) to support restoration activities at Eggers Woods in Chicago, Illinois. These USDA NRCS grant funds are provided through the GLFT. This project will work with GreenCorps Chicago to conduct the restoration work and will engage Wild Indigo Nature Exploration Fellows to help conduct community outreach and establish volunteers for this site.
This project will improve the ecological health of Eggers Woods, grow the Preserves' volunteer base through promotion of nature walks and volunteer workdays at the site, and advance the goals of the Preserves' Next Century Conservation Plan to ensure that native landscapes will thrive for generations and to increase hands-on volunteer opportunities.
The grant amount is $30,000.00 - Potential Grants Match and Work Fund 09-6757
