Summary: The Preserves, parties, local elected officials and residents have participated in a cooperative effort concerning the formulation and development of a regional trail to provide safe access to the Riverside Brookfield High School, and to connect residents in the surrounding municipalities to the Preserves' Salt Creek Bicycle Trail. The Project when completed, will add approximately 2 miles of additional trails to the system in this area, will provide numerous public benefits, including directly serving the transportation and recreational needs of students and the residents, providing better access to the Salt Creek Bicycle Trail, and providing an alternative means of transportation for individuals commuting to work, shopping, recreation and other destinations. The Project is anticipated to be completed in segments with the first segment to be constructed along 1st Avenue from 31st Street to Forest Avenue. The Preserves have agreed to provide no more than $100,00.00 in matching funds toward the completion of this first segment.
