Request: requesting authorization for the Forest Preserves of Cook County (the "Preserves") to enter into a contract with Plata Corporation, Chicago, Illinois, for building and site improvements at the Preserve's General Headquarters in River Forest.
Reason: Contract 13-80-01 G7R1 is for the Preserve's General Headquarters Building. The proposed project is to address ADA deficiencies with the existing facility and to perform needed building and site renovations including, but not limited to, construction of 3000 square foot addition with a 5 stop elevator, ADA washrooms and various building renovations to the existing headquarters building and the corner pavilion. The project also includes landscaping, development of site amenities, and other related work as specified in the plans & specifications.

Alternate bids were required for a total of six (6) items of which the Preserves desires to include five (5) items in the scope of this contract. The bid recommendation is to award the contract with add alternates #1-4 : #1: Construct patio improvements at the corner pavilion, #2: Renovate the corner pavilion, #3: Tuck point all exterior masonry surface at the corner pavilion, #4: Replace a total of six (6) wooden true divided light French door and screen units with like units, and #6: Construct site improvements in Cummings Square.
Estimated Fiscal Impact: $2,586,885.51
Contract Period: Three Hundred and Fifteen (315) days from notice to proceed
