PROPOSED PARTNERSHIP AGREEMENT
Request: Requesting authorization for the Forest Preserves of Cook County (the “Forest Preserves”) to enter into a Partnership Agreement with Friends of the Forest Preserves, Chicago, Illinois.
Reason: Friends of the Forest Preserves has received a $349,999.78 grant through the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation’s Chi-Cal River Program to support the Conservation for All Project, which will engage local communities in public engagement programming and habitat restoration including 66 acres of invasive species treatment at Whistler Woods, Kickapoo Woods, and Sand Ridge Nature Center preserves. The grant will combine the efforts of the Calumet Conservation Corps, Chicago Conservation Leadership Corps, and stewardship volunteers in the Calumet region.
Total project costs are $718,198.78, of which the Forest Preserves will contribute $34,000.00 or approximately 5% in direct match.
Contract Period: 1/2/2023 (retroactive) - 12/31/2024
Fiscal Impact: $34,000.00 in direct cash match, plus up to $45,180.00 of in-kind staff support for the planning, implementation, and monitoring of the projects
